cycles, repeating:

i saw someone today who reminded me of you

they had your smile

and your wits

strange

finding someone new

just to see skeletons, dull and lifeless

their lips never matching the smile of your ghost

you showed me the empty skies

an opening in the clouds of ash and smoke

i secretly wished you a somber farewell;

but kept you in the red of my heart

lost myself in a pastel colored wonderland

distracted

by other peoples lives

and their havoc, all consuming

estranged memories of warmth

because i

forgot

you.

all these roads

all these endings

they all began with -

you

who showed me

in an autumn storm,

dark and gloom,

light in a tunnel

i would sacrifice it all

to lie by your side

midsummer night

parallel

to the one we had

many

moons

ago.

to the feeling of an airplane

boarding

destination

unknown
